Thursday 31st January - walks **** – The Dip to Felixstowe Ferry - sunny.

After yesterday’s mega walk in the Suffolk countryside we wanted to make the most of another fine sunny winter’s day! After a hard frost first thing, the sun had melted that and yesterday’s light covering of snow had disappeared. We drove to The Dip at 12.15 and set off along the prom with hardly a cloud in the sky - with what we call a skiing sky, a brilliant blue:) Mag had fun in her wellies walking through the ice-covered puddles, shattering each surface, as we headed to the Ferry with just a few dog walkers out and about and not a golfer in sight! With the wind light it was very pleasant to walk and we were not the slightest bit cold:) There was a large platform used for building windfarms moored off Bawdsey beach. We strolled through the boat yard, you can never take enough photos down here!! We bumped into a lady we knew from our childminding days who had recently bought a lovely houseboat. This must be a great way to live and we had a nice chat with her. It was then onto the first stile on the River Deben path and there were loads of geese, some flying in large squadrons while others grazed in the fields. We then took the path to the left, for a change. This takes you back along a raised bank through the golf course again offering pretty views. Then back along the cliff to our van. We were out 1hr. 30 mins covering 3 miles so its been a good month with 4 windsurfing sessions, 10 walks and 2 bikes:) We are off for a month in the mountains on 12th Feb. in search of some snow but hope to have at least one windsurfing session before we leave and next Thursday is looking promising for a trip to Point Clear. Several of my mates are heading to El Medano (Tenerife) and the forecast is looking good for them:)
